Q.   Does a building company require a licence to contract?
Yes, for any work greater than $200, a building company requires a full building licence.

Q.   What type of insurance is required by the builder and what proof can I request?
All building work requires a 7 year Home Owners Warranty to protect the home owner. The Building Company also requires public liability insurance as well as contract works insurance. You may request certificates of currency for these at any time.
Q.   Is the owner or manager always contactable?
Yes, at Service World, there will always be an appropriate contact person available with whom to speak.
Q.   Should I ask the building company for references?
Yes, this is an excellent idea to talk to other people who have gone through a building experience with the same building company.

Q.   Once I have my council approval and have chosen Service World as my building contractor, what do I do next?
Sit back and relax, we will do the rest for you, from arranging the Construction Certificate to organizing the necessary paperwork, we will get started and build your dream home. We will liaise with the architect and engineer as well as all the contractors involved in the project.
Q.   Do we need a contract?
Yes, all building jobs require a detailed contract to cover all aspects that may crop up through the project. Service World or your architect will draw this up for you before the work commences.
